Awarded ACS Fall 2014 Innovative Project Grant
Members of the Hiram College (HC) and Kent State University (KSU) student ACS chapters (SAACS) collaborated with the Akron Local Section to apply for the Innovative Project Grant. The ACS Local Section Activities Committee (LSAC) has approved to fund the proposal, entitled “Northeast Ohio Graduate School in Chemistry and Biochemistry Symposium”, in the amount of $1,500!
The event idea was designed to bring undergraduates from the many institutions in the Northeast Ohio region together for a fun and informative evening. As undergraduates pursuing a wide range of career opportunities, the HC and KSU SAACS students are excited for the additional insight this event will provide, and look forward to this becoming a larger annual event.

Awarded ACS Inter-Chapter Grant for 2014!
In November 2013, the Kent State University students of the ACS teamed up with Stark State College student of the ACS and received the National ACS Inter-Chapter Relations Grant for 2014.
According to the National ACS, the Inter-Chapter Relations Grant is intended to bring student chapters together in the hopes of networking opportunities and the establishment of bonds between nearby chapters. This grant, in addition to sponsorship by the Kent State University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and University Libraries, will assist our groups in the upcoming chemistry demo/poster session event this on April 8th, 2014, to be held in the 1st floor main library. This event will build upon the great success of the KSU SAACS poster session in April 2013. We can't wait to see you there!
Kent SAACS Honored with Commendable Chapter Award
For our efforts to establish our student chapter and to satisfy our mission in our first year of operation we have been awarded a Commendable Chapter Award. The report of our activities were reviewed by three faculty advisers from other Universities, in which we were commended for our determination to engage and integrate undergraduate and graduate students by providing activities to serve both groups and our collaborations with our department. The review stated that at this rate we are on our way to becoming an unstoppable chapter!
