Help us kick off the Fall semester right by joining us for a welcome party on Thursday, September 19th. Beginning at 4PM in the Integrated Sciences Building, we'll be introducing new faculty, staff and students. Stop by and enjoy donuts and refreshments.
The Student Affiliates will be participating in a Homecoming event sponsored and organized by the College of Arts & Sciences. SAACS members at the event will make and serve liquid nitrogen ice cream to attendees, including alumni and current students, their families and friends.
SAACS students participating in this event will travel to the Lake Metroparks Environmental Learning Center in Concord, OH to assist. The event is put on by Lubrizol and NEO ACS, and includes many activities for kids and families who take part, revolving around this year’s National Chemistry Week theme of Marvelous Metals!
It's time for the Departmental Picnic once again! Faculty, staff, students, alumni, family, and friends are all invited to join us!
The picnic will be held at Plum Creek Park, Pavilion #1 (Kent), beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 19th. The main dish - as well as the paper products - will all be provided by the department, and the remainder of the picnic will be potluck.
If you're interested in attending, please visit www.kent.edu/chemistry/picnic for more information and to register.
The 6th annual Honors Week Poster Session will be held in the Main Library on Monday, April 2. For more information and poster registration, visit http://kentsaacs.com/2018-poster-session/. Stop by and learn about the undergraduate and graduate research taking place at Kent State!
Join fellow student researchers in presenting your work to your colleagues and judges. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain presentation experience, network, and win prizes for your poster and oral communication. This event is open to all KSU and non-KSU graduate and undergraduate students in all areas of research. Not a researcher? Join us anyway to see what's new and support your fellow students and learn about current studies.
Save the date for a Chemsgiving Day Potluck Feast on Nov 30 at 5:30 pm in Williams 111. We will provide the main dish as students and faculty are invited to bring a side or dessert, along with your appetite - what better way to meetup after Thanksgiving Break??? The November meeting will focus on socialization and relaxation before the end of semester push.
Come out and enjoy relaxing with fellow students and professors (yes, they are pretty fun outside of class!). We provide burgers and dogs* and please feel free to bring a dish or snacks to share. BYOB for 21 and over. Come when you can, leave when you must - or hang out until later at the park or downtown Kent. We can't wait to see you!
*For any special dietary needs and preferences, please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or direct requests can be sent to email@example.com so we can do our best to accommodate everyone!
Welcome new members and welcome back to returning SAACS participants with a fun liquid nitrogen ice cream demonstration-one of the freshest and creamiest ways to enjoy this treat! This is a great way to meet new people, kick back with fellow students, and build your resume with active participation. Hope to see you all there!
Join us as we get ready for the upcoming academic year! Stop by our booth to participate in hands-on chemistry demonstrations and get to know us. SAACS is open to all students interested in chemistry, socializing (almost always with food!), and networking regardless of your major/minor.
We will be taking a tour of Lubrizol on Friday, February 5th from 1:30 - 4:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to see what working in industry might be like. If you're interested in attending, please RSVP by stopping by Erin Michael's office or emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org 5:00 pm on Thursday, January 28th.
